Crowds of excited shoppers in York gathered at the Vangarde Shopping Park today (10 April) to celebrate the eagerly awaited opening of the impressive retailer line-up, which includes York’s first John Lewis and the region’s largest M&S store and a state-of-the-art Next store.
The shopping park celebrated its opening by displaying giant fashion, homeware and food items in front of the retail units to showcase what Vangarde has to offer the shoppers of York and the surrounding region.
Following months of environmental work and construction on site including individually catching and rehoming Great Crested Newts, Vangarde Shopping Park in Huntington opened its stores today to hundreds of delighted local residents.
Deb O’Donnell, Centre Manager at Vangarde Shopping Park comments: “The opening of the Vangarde Shopping Park has been highly anticipated by shoppers and residents for many years in York. “I’m thrilled to welcome our three major retailers to their new home at Vangarde which will certainly draw in thousands of local residents over the next week. The Vangarde Shopping Park has the local community at its heart and we will be welcoming residents to the park for lots of exciting events in coming months – plus we’ll be launching lots of exclusive competitions on our social media channels.”
At 9am shoppers witnessed the official opening of the three major retailers with ribbon cuttings and in-store celebrations. Shoppers were also able to walk around the shopping park grounds and browse the public art, which has been exclusively created for the Vangarde, all of which is inspired by the history and environment surrounding Vangarde Shopping Park.
